🤷♀️👥💻Challenges of all sorts are associated with the implementation of #COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning). Some of them can be avoided or overcome if we are aware of them in advance and get ready accordingly. Others (such as cultural differences) need to be faced as inherent elements of the desired transformational learning process we and our students embark on. To be able to respond accordingly to any challenge and develop the necessary skills, it is essential to start by being aware of them.
👉4 types of challenges emerged from the interviews to practitioners and administrators I did at Kibbutzim College in the years 2019-20 (for a document I wrote as consultant for the Internationalization Dept).
**For more info on each of the emerging themes re the challenges, view the interactive image below in full screen by clicking on the arrow at the bottom on the right hand side corner, and then click on the icon for each category. **
🧐Think how the conditions for future virtual exchanges can be improved (e.g. for issues related to technology, language difficulties or techno pedagogy) and ways to deal with the challenges that will eventually lead to growth (e.g. discussion and reflection on cultural issues).
❓Have you ever engaged in virtual exchanged and faced any of these challenges? Which one? Did you manage to deal with it? How? Would you do things differently now?
Can you think of any challenge not mentioned here/by the interviewees?
